The secret of a happy marriage is finding the right person. Matchmaking platforms aspire to do just that. Unfortunately, many youngsters cannot eat the proverbial ‘shaddi ka laddu’ due to chronic diseases. Vivek Sharma along with a friend Sushil Dugar established their website Divine Relations after coming to the same conclusion of helping those people find a life partner.

After losing his son to an undiagnosed medical condition, Vivek Sharma – an alumnus of IIM Calcutta, quit his job and started a medical communication and media agency, which he later converted into a private limited firm. Sushil Dugar, Senior Manager in an IT enabled company had started an NGO in the name of his cousin Mickey, who had succumbed to Autism at the age of 15.

Together, Sushil Dugar and Vivek Sharma established the Mickey Amogh Foundation in 2013 to support underprivileged women and children in education, healthcare, organizing blood donation camps and skill development. Later they started a free to use the portal, available online and on Android phones – named Divine Relations. Its aim is to connect people with chronic diseases or having fought and survived chronic diseases, to give them the opportunity to have a Happily Ever After.

Officially inaugurated on November 4, the platform offers complete security to the users by registering with their Aadhar card or passport number along with the disease type and stage. It does not provide the complete information present in the profile apart from the age, place and the disease they suffer from. The complete details are made available only when someone accepts the invitation.

With 40 plus people already registered, their biggest problem is spreading awareness about the platform. So far only social media is used, according to Mr. Sharma.

Although the website is yet to see success in the form of married couples, Vivek Sharma is still hopeful and aims to touch 10,000 lives within the decade. Partner Sushil Dugar adds that they wish to bring color to the lives of people, who have no one to share their life.
