Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar showed his humble side yet again. He donated Rs. 9 lakhs each to the families of the 12 CRPF personnel who were killed in the recent Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh.
According to the reports of the officials, soon after the incident happened, Akshay Kumar approached the Union Home Ministry and requested to give the account numbers of the family members of the jawans who were killed in the March 11 Naxal attack.
The Home Ministry after accepting Kumar’s request directed the CRPF to share the bonafide bank account numbers of the families of the killed personnel, they said, transferred Rs. 9 lakhs each to the bank accounts yesterday.
As many as 12 jawans were killed in a deadly ambush in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-hit district of Sukma on March 11.
The Khiladi of Bollywood Akshay Kumar recently met Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and expressed his desire to plan a smartphone app so that any citizen of India can donate money liberally through this app. This money ultimately reaches to those needy families of jawans or army officers who get killed in the line of duty.
Earlier, this year on the eve of Republic Day, he also proposed an app for the public to transfer money to the families of martyred jawans of the national defense, irrespective of the compensations the government takes care of.
